Questions and Answers

Question

I am having trouble with the audio dropping in and out, why is this happening?

Answer

The server streams the audio to you using MPEG Layer-3 at 16k. Check the audio level on your receiver, this can be found under "Audio" towards the bottom of the receiver, if the volume is above 15 lower it. Also check the buffer settings, try raising the buffer level to 0.5 or 1.0 second and see if this helps. Due to the nature of the internet occasional dropouts are to be expected. If you are still experiencing problems please send a message to the webmaster using the contact form.

Question

I only have a dial-up internet connection, can I still use the receiver?

Answer

Yes, recent changes to the way the mp3 audio is streamed make it possible to use a dial up connection.

Question

I am using the DRM decoder but I cannot hear any sound, why?

Answer

First the obvious, is the station you are tuned to actually broadcasting DRM? Check here for upto date information. Assuming you are tuned to a DRM broadcast check that the data light is lit and data is being displayed in the DRM panel. If it is, look at the Signal to Noise Ratio. To resolve the audio the decoder needs a SNR of at least 14dB. If it is below this wait a few minutes and see if it improves, if not then the signal strength is not high enough, try again at a later time. Also the receiver needs to be tuned "spot on", so make sure the frequency is correct!
