“The definitive guide to the Long and Medium Wave bands”

NAVTEX

Users of the On-line Receiver can now decode the NAVTEX signals that are broadcast on 518 kHz and other frequencies. Users will need to up-grade the CSO WiNCLiENT which you can download here (1.54MB).

Please save the file to a suitable place on your PC, we suggest "My Documents". When saved run the file to up-date.

You now need to install the Advanced Navtec Decoder plug-in into the 313 Remote Client. Please download the zipped file here (1.0MB) and follow the instructions below.

Open up the zipped file and extract the two files called NAVTEX.xrs and the Compiled HTML Help File. Install these two files into Plug-in folder. The path to this folder will typically be: My Computer (usually the (C:) Drive) - Program Files - WiNRADiO - Plugins. The quickest method is to copy the files by "right clicking" and copy, or you could use Windows Explorer which will be found in the "Accessories" file.

Now open the WiNRADiO CSO from your desktop. Select the Digital Suite tab and you should find the +Advanced NAVTEX Decoder. Now connect to the ON-line Receiver in the usual way. Once connected click on the +Advanced NAVTEX Decoder and tune to 518 kHz or another frequency that Navtex signals are broadcast on. Switch to CW mode and select an IF Bandwidth of 1 kHz. NAVTEX signals are broadcast a set times. A good place to explore is Alan Gale's Beacon World.

Further help will be found by clicking the help button at the bottom right hand side of the display. This will reveal the help file.
